Painted Fire Red Shrimp (PFR) are the highest grade of the Red Cherry shrimp, one of the most common shrimps in the hobby. These have deep red color and even most of the legs are red. It is advised to separate them from other Neocaridina shrimp because of crossbreeding, which will revert the offsprings back to wild color.
Like all other Neocaridina shrimp, Painted Fire Red Shrimp are easy to care for as they can adapt to a wide range of water parameters, they can be kept in either soft or hard water. We recommend keeping them in hard water with a gH of at least 8 for them to show their best color. Aquarium should be fully cycled before introducing any shrimp. There should be no trace Ammonia and Nitrite, Nitrate should be under 25ppm. Weekly water change of 10-20% is suggested to keep the nitrate low. Feed only 2-3 times a week as overfeeding will cause shrimp death.
Breeding Painted Fire Red Shrimp is fairly easy, if there is a male and female in the aquarium, they will breed. Female shrimp will carry the eggs for about 30 days until they are hatched to miniature size of their parents. It is important to have a well established aquarium in order for the shrimplets to survive as they can only consume biofilms until they grow older.

Ive been left down so many times from false pictures. But SoShrimp was more than reasonably priced and sent healthy deep red PFS. Paid for 10 and got 11, none died! It's been one week and i was fortunate to have a berried shrimp that just gave birth. Just orded another batch of 10 blue velvets less than a week later because of how satisfied I was! Will let you know about those.
Ps, learn what gh and kh is. Along with other water parameters. Just like many others, wasted hundreds an killed many shrimp till i understood water chemistry for shrimp. Some people get lucky with their local tap water. I've paid outrageous prices for next day shipping when its hot or cold. I won't blame the seller if i choose standard shipping to save 20 bucks, knowing it's hot all week. Kenny on 29th Oct 2018
Very fair price considering on the grade you recieve. Not all of them are true PFRS. Recieving 10, I've only recieved 3 that are PFRS and the rest more or less low/high grade sakura shrimp. David Nguyen on 2nd Aug 2018
These guys came healthy and bright red. Some were a little off color, but once in tank, they went to plants and colored up.
Bought 10 and about 5 hours later 6 were eating an algae/spirulina water and the other 4 were here and there in plants. Plan on ordering more in a few weeks. Very satisfied! Merry Davis on 5th Jul 2018
Ordered 20 Painted reds. Shipping took 5 days! Tracking was posted Monday Dec. 18th and box arrived Friday Dec 22. I was there at the door to receive them so they did not sit outside for anytime. I honestly expected to have a box of dead shrimp after 5 days in shipping but miraculously they were all alive, although not moving much and a bit beat up from the ride. (one female got all he eggs knocked out and they were floating around the bag) Since none of them were DOA I opened up the bags and drip acclimated to my tanks water over the course of an hour. Once in the tank they started to move around a bit and liven up. I thought I was in the clear. However, over the course of the next 24 hours I lost 6 of them. :(
Tank is a 10 gal planted (no co2) that has been established for a good 6 months and only tank mates are some Rili shrimp that are already breeding so I dont think it had anything to do with my water.
PH has held stable right around 7 for the past 6 months.
Its now Monday morning the 25th and hopefully the remaining survivors back to good health. I would never wish the death of any fish/shrimp but dang I wish they would have just kicked the bucket a couple hours earlier the bag so I could have Sent in pics per the DOA policy.
On a side note: The shrimp do show nice color once they liven up in the tank and a few of the survivors were berried females. So I gave 3 starts for the shrimp themselves. Just a shame on the shipping though. 5 days is too long for any live animal, even the hearty cherry shrimp.

Very active straight out of the bag. Well packaged, arrived quickly. I was on the fence between the painted fire and bloody mary, but I am more than pleased with the color. Great addition to my planted tank. Would recommend and purchase again. Nicole on 19th Dec 2017
