Caridina

Caridina shrimp, including Crystal Red, Crystal Black, Golden Bee, Pure Red Line and Taiwan Bees like Blue Bolt, King Kong and Pinto, are prized for their bold colors and clean patterns. All of them are Caridina cf. cantonensis, from our own tanks.

Caridina need soft, slightly acidic water that stays the same from week to week: RO/DI water remineralized to TDS 100–120 and GH 4–6, KH 0–1, pH under 6.8 and 68–78°F. Active soil holds the pH, and a mature tank, cycled for about 8 weeks, is the biggest factor in keeping them healthy.

They are a good next step after Neocaridina. In a stable tank they breed well, best at 76–78°F, and the babies grow up grazing on the tank's biofilm. Keep one variety per tank, since they crossbreed.
